Background information
Gabriel John is the Environment Lead with the Generation, Transmission and Markets Branch in the Energy Policy Division of Alberta Energy. Gabriel has over 14 years of diverse experience and knowledge in academia and in public policy. Mr. John has had the opportunity to work in the energy-environment public policy nexus, including the development and implementation of Alberta renewable and alternative energy policies and programs, and environmental policies relating to the decarbonization of the electricity sector. He currently oversees the development of strategic environmental and sustainable electricity policies and programs in the Alberta Energy department. Prior to this role, Gabriel worked in the academia where he taught agricultural economics. Gabriel is a Professional Agrologist and holds a Masters degree in Resource Economics from the University of Alberta. He also holds a certificate in Greenhouse Gas Inventory Quantification (GHG-IQ).
